In January of 2022, I started working towards my Master of Arts in Strategic Communication and Innovation at Texas Tech University’s Graduate School. With an expected graduation date of July 2023, I am excited to be working towards my higher education while working full-time in the news industry.

For my capstone project, I am focusing my research on the issue many news stations face; hiring first-time multimedia journalists. Through this research, my goal is to better understand the expectations and frustrations of news directors when it comes to hiring multimedia journalists, while also speaking to anticipating broadcast journalists about their expectations in entering the news industry. I plan to complete this through a series of in-depth interviews and surveys. With my findings, I hope to learn more about the managerial side of news and apply my findings to help both news directors and first-time journalists navigate the hiring process more efficiently.
